Jobless Rate In Alabama Slowly Improving
Huntsville- There's some good news to report about unemployment in Alabama. The State Department of Industrial Relations is reporting that
Alabama's September unemployment rate fell to 8.9 percent. Over the past five months the jobless figure has been slowly but steadily going in the right direction.
Chris McLemore is employed again working a full time job. He lost his job with NASA last year but now works for Mosley Technical Services Incorporated in
Huntsville. McLemore says its encouraging that the unemployment rate seems to be slowly improving in Alabama. He says being out of work nearly a year was difficult, but he says folks in that situation have to stay focused. "You just pick up the pieces and go on, you could easily stare into the abyss and get depressed. But that's not going to help so the best thing to do is to dust yourself off and get back on the horse" McLemore said.
Mosley Technical Services provides support for the military. McLemore also works for the Huntsville Space Professionals helping others who lost jobs in the space industry.
"There is hope and there is support, there are other people going through the same things your going through so keep the faith" Mclemore said. The HSP group has held several job fairs including one last July at UA-Huntsville where McLemore got a lead that helped him land his job.

WAAY 31 FirstNews at 4 Moving to Bridge Street
Huntsville, AL - WAAY 31 FirstNews at 4 will have a brand new look soon. Starting on Monday, October 11th, the show will move from the Backyard Water Garden to the Bridge Street Town Centre.
Haley Baker will continue to host the program from it's new location. "The 4pm show will be a magazine show more than a newscast" said Keith Lowhorne, WAAY-TV's News Director. "That means there will be more interview opportunities and long format stories on a particular topic."
Brad Huffines will remain at the Backyard Water Garden on Monte Sano to provide weather forecasts, and Guy Hornbuckle will be in the WAAY 31 studios to give FirstNews at 4 viewers the top headlines of the day. However, most of the show will originate from the Bridge Street Town Centre, with WAAY's new location set up outside the Monaco Pictures building.
Monaco isn't just providing a nice backdrop for WAAY 31 FirstNews at 4, it's also going to play an integral part of future WAAY give aways. "Every Thursday is going to be our entertainment night, as we know everyone starts planning their weekend on Thursday, so at the 4:00 hour on Thursdays we're gonna be telling everyone what's going on in Huntsville, what movies are playing at the Monaco, and we're giving away free tickets, that's always a good thing."

Bingo Bust : You Tell Us
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Two Alabama casino owners, four state senators and five others arrested in a vote-buying investigation have been released on bond after arriving in court in shackles.
Federal agents spread out across the state Monday to arrest 11 people indicted by a grand jury in Montgomery. They are accused of trading votes on a pro-gambling bill for millions of dollars in payments and campaign donations.
The 11 had their first court appearance Monday afternoon. A judge allowed all to go free on bonds ranging from $100,000 to $500,000. The highest bonds were set for casino operators Milton McGregor and Ronnie Gilley.
Gilley's attorney, Doug Jones, says there is no question the charges are tied to Montgomery politics and the upcoming election for governor, where the biggest issue is electronic bingo.
